課程說明 :
Laboratory work: this will begin in the second week of the term in the scheduled morning. There will be 4 hardware experiments interpersed with 4 computer simulation experiments done in MATLAB Hardware labs
  1. Yoy must do these at the scheduled times. in small groups ; individual reports are required
  2. Come to each lab prepared to do the experiment. The lab TA usually will open the session with a short quiz on the material in the lab notes,and quiz graded will be weighed in the determing the overall grade for each experiment
  3. Hardware-lab reports are to submitted to the lab TA two weeks after doing the lab, i.e. at the next hareware-lab session. The reports will be graded by the lab TA and returned by her not more than two weeks after submission.

Late reports will receive half-credit at most. Due-date extension for compassionate reasons (only) can be negotiated with the lab TA MATLAB labs
  1. An initial MATLAB familiarization will be conduction by the lecturer in the first week; after that, you may sign-up for MATLAB time whenever it is available
  2. MATLAB reports are simpler than hardware-lab reports. They should be submitted in the lecture two weeks after assigning the lab

Project work: Five project will be conducted by four graduate students and the TA. 4 to 6 students in this class may form a project team. Each team may choose one of these four projects or they design their own project. Projects designed by the students should be approved by the lecturer. Outlines of the four pre-designed projects are listed as follows:

  1. Design and build an regular acceleration sensor. Using this sensor in the feedback loop of the motor driver to improve the controller robustness to motor inertia
  2. Design a decoder circuit for the linear encoder such that the resolution can be upgraded by a factor of least 8
  3. Controller design and implementation for printer motors in the two-disc positioning system
  4. Design and build a digital notch filter for tacho-meters. This notch filter should be able to detect the signal and noise ratio at a specified frequency automatically and eliminate only the noise portion of the sensor output
  5. Design and build a controller for double pendulum system. There is only one actuator (connected to the first joint) in the system. The controller should be able to eliminate the motion of the second pendulum by rotating the first pendulum
